College Football Frenzy

With the college football season in full swing, fans have already witnessed considerable upsets in these first few weeks. Now, this leaves the big question, who will win the national championship? It’s a question that leaves so many college football fans wondering. This also leaves so many questions to be answered, such as, will there be a Cinderella story this year, will Georgia go back to back to back, and who could be the team to dethrone Georgia?

College football has always been an amazing way for many family and friends to bond and cheer for their favorite team. Cheering for your favorite team together, wearing matching jerseys, and doing victory dances when they score a touchdown creates a sense of team spirit and unity. Plus, there’s nothing like the thrill of watching a close game and celebrating the wins together. Whether it’s tailgating before the game or gathering around the TV at home, college football brings people together, ignites friendly rivalries, and creates lasting memories. It’s a game that unites and strengthens relationships.

At Olympia High School, many college football watchers are among the teachers, staff, and students. For example, Mrs. Amy Preston, the publications teacher, is a huge fan of the Crimson Tide.

Coach Mike McDaniel

“I believe the University of Southern California, University of Michigan, University of Texas, and Florida State University will be the final four teams. I think FSU will end up taking home the national championship.”

Mrs. Amy Preston

“It’s tough not to choose Georgia as the favorite to win it all again. Georgia has one back-to-back national championship, which means their team is very unified. Even though some of their best players graduated, the team still has an unbreakable bond since most of them are returning players.”

Mr. John McCaffery

“Georgia is my pick to win it all, they have a great offense and an even stronger defense.”

Mrs. Cayenne Dansby

“Although I would love to see my Gators win another national championship, I don’t see that in the future; at least not this year. I would also love to see Drake Maye and UNC have a miraculous Cinderella season, however, I don’t think that’s in the cards either. As much as I would like to keep it in the SEC, and as much as this pains me to say this, I think this might be Florida State’s year [to win].”

Jacob Whiddon (12th)

“I believe Georgia will take the win this year, coming off of 2 consecutive national championships they have the undoubted confidence for a 3 peat.  As they move further into the season, I know not only I but many other Georgia fans can take a breather. After the first couple of games, we can now settle down the nerves of new quarterback Carson Beck. Georgia has the talent and uses their players to the best ability. Even though they have a tough schedule, the amount of playmakers and consistency their program has undeniably defeats the rest of the SEC. I would say if not them, Texas and FSU come close behind. FSU had an enormous influx of talented recruits. This can take them highly up the rankings after they swept LSU and Southern Miss. Georgia seems most comfortable this season after being undefeated the last 2 years.”

Grayson Harper (11th)

“I’m an Alabama fan so this pains me to say, but I don’t know if this is our year to win. Since we already lost to Texas and don’t have a confirmed QB1, it doesn’t look good for us. But I’m still gonna pick Alabama to win. I think Nick Saban is a great coach and they’re going to able to figure it out.”

Avery Murrell (12th)

“I think Georgia will win it all. It’s hard for me to say that since I’m a Florida Gator fan. I think their defense and offense can outmatch any team.”
