Senior year is full of fun memories, and one of the most special ones at Olympia is Toga Day. This is the day when all the seniors dress up in white and gold to show their school spirit and celebrate their last year of high school. The hallways are full of smiles, laughter, and excitement as seniors show off their creative outfits and enjoy the day together.
“Even though it’s just one day, it means a lot to us,” Laura Polanco shared. “It’s one of those moments where you forget about all the stress from school and just enjoy being with your friends,” senior Sofia Prepo remarked, “Everyone looks amazing in white and gold. It’s such a cool way to show our class spirit.”
For many of us, Toga Day is something we’ve looked forward to since freshman year. It’s one of those events that makes being a senior feel real. Walking through the school, you can feel how happy everyone is. People are laughing, taking pictures, and helping each other fix their togas. It’s fun to see how everyone makes their outfit a little different, some use gold ribbons, others add glitter or crowns, and everyone looks amazing.
“I’ve looked forward to this since freshman year,” added senior Miranda Di Marino. “It makes me realize how fast time has gone and how close we are to graduating.”
The idea of Toga Day actually comes from ancient Rome, where people wore togas as a sign of honor and respect. For us at Olympia, it’s not just about pretending to be Romans. It’s about showing pride, unity, and the bond that all seniors share. We have worked hard to get here, and this day reminds us to enjoy every part of our last year.
“It’s so fun seeing everyone come together and participate,” said senior Valentina Rosales. “It really feels like we’re all celebrating our last year.”
As I looked around, I couldn’t help but feel proud. Everyone was smiling and having a good time. Some were taking group pictures, others were dancing, and the energy around the school was so positive. It’s days like this that make senior year so special. “We’ve waited for this moment for so long, and now it’s finally here,” senior Victoria Sanchez expressed. “It’s exciting but also a little bittersweet” Toga Day isn’t just about dressing up. It’s a reminder that high school is about more than homework and tests. It’s about having fun, making memories, and spending time with the people who have been with us through it all. We all know graduation is getting closer, and that can feel a little scary, but it’s also exciting to think about the future.
As the Class of 2026’s final year continues, days like this remind us to live in the moment. One day, we’ll look back and remember how it felt to walk through the halls in our white and gold togas, laughing with our friends and feeling proud to be seniors. Toga Day will always be one of those special memories that shows what it means to be part of Olympia High School.
