If you’ve ever walked into the Titan Agora during lunch you know it’s not your typical store. Surely, it has candy and school gear but it’s also where students get rewarded for doing good things. Whether you helped a classmate, or just went the extra mile, you might earn Titan Bucks and Titan Agora is where you get to spend them.
Titan Bucks are handed out by teachers and faculty to students during class and school events and they’re all about recognizing positive actions. It’s a way to celebrate the little things that make a big difference in our school.
Titan Agora is run by juniors Jack Meyers and Reid Rucki, who have been working the store behind the scenes. From restocking shelves to creating a welcoming vibe, they keep the whole operation running smoothly. “We want the Agora to be a place where students know they are appreciated. It’s not just about the snacks. It’s about recognizing the good things people are doing around school,” Meyers explained.
Titan Agora offers all kinds of candy like Skittles, chocolate, and sour gummies. But there’s more to it than just candy. Students can also spend their Titan Bucks on Titan branded gear like special cups, limited T-shirts, and hoodies. Rucki claimed that “We try to keep the options fun and switch things up. We even ask people what they want to see in the store. It’s cool to get input and then actually make it happen.”
Titan Agora is open during lunch a few times a week, and there’s usually a little line. Students are excited to cash in their Titan Bucks and the energy is always positive. According to Meyers, his favorite part is “When people walk in and see that what they did actually earned them something, it makes them want to keep doing more good”.
Running Titan Agora has also taught Meyer and Rucki some real-life business skills. They’ve learned how to manage inventory, handle busy crowds, and work as a team. Rucki stated “It’s been a fun experience, and it’s definitely helped us learn a lot. But also it’s helped create a better atmosphere at school.” The Titan Agora has now become a place where students feel appreciated and motivated to do their best.
Overall thanks to programs like these, kindness and effort don’t go unnoticed at Olympia. So, next time you do something kind or helpful keep an eye out for a Titan Buck you never know what cool stuff will be waiting for you to cash in on at the Titan Agora.
