However, just as New England appeared ready to make a comeback, the Seahawks responded with one of the most pivotal plays of the game. Maye threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown which instantly shifted the momentum back to Seattle and extended their lead. This defensive score created an obstacle that the Patriots couldn’t overcome.
Special teams also played an important role. Seattle’s kicker was nearly perfect every time, converting multiple field goals and putting important points on the board to withstand the lead all game.
