Spotify Wrapped is one of the most anticipated reveals for music fans everywhere. It provides statistics for people’s music tastes. Over 713 million people listen to Spotify monthly, and everyone is always over the moon with excitement in December, when they get to review the songs and artists they listened to over the year. Spotify Wrapped shows all of the details about the music you listen to. Now, let’s hear from some of the students around the school and get their opinions on their personal Spotify Wrapped statistics.
I went around all of Olympia interviewing students on their opinions of Spotify Wrapped and what their results were. Freshman Cameron Dean explained that for many, December isn’t just about the holidays; it’s about the “thing I really look forward to,” which is Spotify Wrapped. This annual event allows users to see “how my music changes throughout the year.” Dean continued, “This year I had 143,000 minutes with my top artist being Drake, which to me was very surprising because I really thought I listened to more
PARTYNEXTDOOR than Drake.” PARTYNEXTDOOR is my favorite artist because of his chill and relaxing music. I loved the new album he made with Drake, and I can’t wait for more of his new music.”To add on to this, sophomore Tobin Johnson shared, “I really didn’t listen to much music this year. I only had 15,000 minutes, and my top artist was Juice Wrld, who is not very surprising because he is all I listen to. I love seeing my Spotify Wrapped every year to see my change in music taste over the years. I really like how Spotify explains all the analytics as well.” Many students at this school had many of the same answers as Drake, Taylor Swift, and Morgan Wallen.
However, senior Jonah Jacobs had a different perspective on their music. Jacobs shared that “My Spotify Wrapped is amazing this year, with my top artist being Travis Scott, my top song being 90210 by Travis Scott, and I had over 45,000 minutes on Spotify. 24,000 of those minutes were from Travis Scott. Travis Scott was definitely my most listened to artist this year. I just got into his music, and I immediately fell in love with it. From now on, he will be my top artist forever.” Junior Lily Padilla disagreed with this statement by Jacobs, stating, “Travis Scott is a good artist, but I personally think that Taylor Swift is the best. Her music is so inspiring to me, and I love everything about her. She is definitely my most listened to artist this year. I had over 60,000 minutes on Spotify this year, with 30,000 of those being from Taylor Swift herself.”
In conclusion, it seems that Spotify Wrapped is very popular, and everyone is always looking forward to receiving and comparing their results with others. Maybe next year we will see some changes in some of these students’ music tastes!
