For the Titans this year, their support of our football team has been amazing. During the football games, the student section has been full with excited students. This year, we haven’t been performing at our best on the field, but we can still encourage our team by simply showing up. No matter what happens at the games, win or lose, it’s always a fun experience due to the atmosphere, people, and just the small moments. Titans, let’s make sure that we also show support to the people not directly involved in the play, like our band, athletic trainers, and photographers.
Often, it’s just the small moments at the football games that make them so fun. It’s really just how you get to connect with the people there on a small level, like when chanting in the student section. Sophomore Christopher Schneider said, “My favorite moment at a football game was when I proposed to my girlfriend to go to Homecoming.” Moments like these are just so fun to be a part of.
The atmosphere is what creates the excitement. Olympia’s 6th Man section is the loudest in the whole state. Our famous O-T chants are so electrifying, especially when Olympia scores a touchdown and the crowd erupts in joy. Freshman Ohm Patel said, “This year, my favorite parts have to be the football games, the student section atmosphere is just insane, I never expected it to be that insane, especially during the touchdowns.” This is what the 6th Man is here for. Thanks to their efforts we have such a lively and energetic student section.
The huge crowd of students that pack together with excitement is what creates those special high school moments. I don’t think anyone would rather stay at home than meet up with so many people and watch football and just have fun. We have people from other schools meeting up at the football games just because they know someone on the field or in the crowd. Sophomore Humberto Ramirez is a new student at Olympia, but in most of the football games last season, he always came to watch our Titans.“ For me, football isn’t a sport I would generally watch, but I love coming to the games here. I’ve met all my old friends and even made new ones as someone from Dr Phillips High School,” he admitted.
Overall, Titans come to the football games for tons of fun and electric energy. The atmosphere and people are great, and it’s just the little things that make Friday nights such a great experience week in and week out. Of course, with our 6th Man team, you will never get bored at the games. Be sure to come out and support your Titans next year every Friday at 7pm!
