The Grammy Awards winners will be announced February 2nd, 2025, bringing along more fan wars, iconic red carpet moments, and memes for us all to enjoy. I can already anticipate the revival of the Beehive vs Swifties feud, and I’m all here for it. For this article, I tried my very best to set aside any personal bias or dislike of any artist, mostly because I’m not fast enough to run away if a fanbase disagrees with my takes. So here are my predictions for this year’s Grammy winners:
Record of the Year
The nominees for this category are The Beatles “Now and Then”, Beyoncé’s TEXAS HOLD ‘EM, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”, Charli XCX’s “360”, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar, “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan, and “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift ft Post Malone. Looking at this list, the competition is very tight. All nominees are established to some degree in the music industry and have amazing productions. However, based on previous trends, I would say that those with a “ride or die” fanbase are more likely to win. While I personally preferred TEXAS HOLD ‘EM, “Fortnight” and “Birds of a Feather” were used on every TikTok Post. The cultural and social impact of “Not Like Us” and “Good Luck, Babe!” were also significant. However, I have to go with the Avocados/Eyelashes (Billie Eilish Fan Base) and give it to Billie for Record of the Year.
Winner: “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
Album of the Year
I’ve been bracing myself for this one. The nominees for this category are André 3000’s New Blue Sun, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Charli XCX’s Brat, Jacob Collier’s Djesse vol. 4, Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. Now no matter how we put it, the Grammys are often more of a popularity contest than an art-based one. Taylor Swift or Beyoncé will probably win, but in terms of musicality, I believe Chappell Roan deserves it the most. There was not a single song on that album that I wanted to skip. With the shuffle button, I went from crying to yelling and getting shouted at by my neighbors, and that’s entirely due to the gems she produced.
Winner: “Cowboy Carter” by Beyoncé
Song of the Year
The nominees are Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die with a Smile”, Shaboozey’s “Tipsy”, Billie’s “Birds of a Feather”, Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight”, Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please”, and Beyoncé’s TEXAS HOLD ‘EM. While it breaks my heart to not go with “Die with a Smile”, I played “Please Please Please” all summer and watched countless edits where it figured, which is why I have to go with it.
Winner: “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
Best New Artist
Benson Boone, Shaboozey, Sabrina Carpenter, Khruangbin, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Teddy Swims, and Raye are the nominees for this category. While I do appreciate Doechii’s versatility and use of various art forms in her work, I do believe that Chappell Roan or Sabrina Carpenter will win based on their respective popularity.
Winner: Chappell Roan
I wish to formally apologize to any Swifty or Beehive who’s read this article. May the best nominee win on February 2nd.
