Transferring from one school to another opens up new opportunities for high school athletes and can bring a new level of excitement to the game.

A recent transfer from private Lake Highland Prep to public Olympia High School, Camren Ware discusses his perspective on being a student-athlete transfer. Ware, a senior on our varsity football team, shared his experience at Olympia so far.

“It’s been very well, and everyone has welcomed me with open arms. I’ve been thankful and just happy that I can do these things,” Ware said.

Ware made the decision to transfer to Olympia for several reasons. For one, he had experience playing youth football at Olympia as a kid, and he knew he always wanted to graduate from the school where he already had a connection with his teammates. He also aimed to seek out better competition on the field.

Taking on the role of wide receiver, Ware has already made a positive impact on Olympia’s team. He was thriving in the first quarter of the pre-season game, breaking off touchdown runs of 34 and 56 yards. Olympia started the year off with a win of 14-0 against Boone High School. As a senior with college around the corner, Ware is excited to further his academic and athletic career studying at Harvard University.

“I’m most excited about the people I will meet. For instance, future presidents, business owners, and great minds around me excite me,” Ware said.

Ware’s commitment to Harvard as an aspiring future lawyer is an impressive achievement.

Ware has verbally committed to Harvard, and his signing day is in December, with his acceptance letter to arrive on October 1st. Ware is thankful for him representing what God can do, while his family has been there every step of the way supporting him. Ware is blessed with this opportunity as he has already seamlessly integrated into this team he calls his family.

Very well written. Insightful. Compelling writing. I feel as though I know Ware and understand both his journey and vision.
There’s a book waiting to be written by this very talented writer.
