This year for Homecoming, Olympia hosted the annual Powder Puff competition! The game this year brought the heat giving the audience an impressive showdown, with the Senior class proudly taking home the Powder Puff Champions title. The competition between classes was strong, the rivalries became a reality, and the noise from the sidelines was heard from all around. Cheering fans from different grade levels showed up and showed out on the field!
Throughout the weeks leading up to the game, each teams’ coaches were tasked with creating a plan to get their players into shape for the upcoming face off. They had to freshen up their plays, finesse the players footwork, and turn new members to newfound family in less than 5 days. There was much talk in the school about who would take home the title as the winning team, and friendly disputes started as everyone was getting excited in anticipation for the game!
In the final showdown, the Seniors came out ready to play and did not let anything stop them from winning. From the first play of their game against the Sophomores, the work they put in was evident on the field. Playing with both grit and willpower, the team was able to make quick plays. This strategy resulted in multiple touchdowns with plenty of sideline celebrations made by their cheer team to rally up their classmates.
The Junior squad put up a notable fight as they were in finals against the Seniors. Putting up a good game with a few strategic plays of their own, but it was not enough. The Seniors managed to hold their own and locked in for a deserved victory and accomplishment for the Class of 2025.
After the game, Senior quarterback Tracharie Allen couldn’t contain her happiness and exclaimed that “We knew while warming up that we were going to win and we were not going to accept anything less than that.Just making sure our team was solid helped us win tonight and bring home the championship. This will definitely be a core memory of my Senior year for sure!”
The Powder Puff legacy is sure to reign long here at Olympia and the spirit of the competition is only going to increase as the years go on. The night ended with a happy Senior class and cheers from every participant in celebration of homecoming! Congratulations to the Senior class on their big win, who do you think will come out victorious next year?
