Fresh Season Start for our Flag Football Team

Fresh Season Start for our Flag Football Team

The start of a new season, new players, and even new coaches is refreshing. Flag Football is an exciting sport played here at Olympia High School. Our all-girls team is coached by Head Coach Timothy Swanigan, with assistant coaches Raymond Bourbon and Corian Hamilton. Last year, our team ended their season with a record of 5-8. This year, our coaches hope for a better season with more success through practicing with new plays and making use of their new talent.

“I believe that they will accomplish more this year, they have already accomplished so much in the 2 weeks we have been practicing,” Coach Raymond Bourbon expressed.

“I feel my team will accomplish more this year because of the fact we have more speed,” Head Coach Timothy Swannigan stated.

“I think this year we have a strong team. We have a lot of speed and the potential to go further than we did last year with the players that moved up from JV,” Tia Dixon, team captain, said.

With the new season now starting, there are steps our coaches must take to make sure our girls are prepared.

“I will prepare my girls this season by making sure they not only know their job but their teammates’ job as well. By making sure the jobs get done, we can get a positive outcome and hopefully many wins,” Coach Raymond “Ray” Bourbon said.

“[We will] get them through adversity and always get them to push through, even when they are tired,” Swannigan expressed.

There are always setbacks, but the most important part is that we know that our girls will always push through. With hard work and confidence, along with the help of their coaches, these Titans have the potential to accomplish remarkable things.

“If I ever face adversity, I would pray and tell myself I can get through it,” junior Valencia Foster stated.

“You just have to keep pushing on even when something goes wrong and not let it affect you or your team,” Dixon shared.

“I believe you will always have setbacks[;] it just comes with coaching. We can get past these setbacks by focusing on the process and not the outcomes,” Bourbon expressed.

We believe in our girls, and know they can conquer any challenges they may face. We wish them an amazing season. GO TITANS!
