Olympia’s campus has many different kinds of people, with a variety of backgrounds, and all likely varying in music taste. A lot of students and faculty have different opinions and tastes in music, from what they hate to what they love, and we are here for all of it. Let’s get into what Titans enjoy listening to.
Genres:
“I listen to Classic rock from the 70s. I listen to this type of music because of the nostalgia that I get from it. It helps me get back into the feelings of being in high school and what should be happening. I also listen to this type of music to reflect my mood and how I feel, and that’s about it”, said Mr. Lovely, one of Olympia’s history teachers. Every morning, Mr. Lovely plays his music to set the mood for him to teach.
“I listen to a lot of R&B. I think it romanticizes my life, it makes me happy, it picks up my mood, and makes me feel lifted, all the time I listen to whatever I’m recommended. I like rock, some metal, and I like pretty much everything if it has a beat and sounds good”, said Sophomore Sarai Allen, and I can understand how Sarai feels this as she’s always listening to R&B.
Junior Davis Calderon added, “The kind of music I listen to is slow kinda R&B music, my favorite artist has to be Teo Glacier, and his music resonates with me like love-ish. ”A lot of R&B listeners can agree that this genre is great at lifting their mood.
On the other hand, Sophomore Ella Nagar answered, “I like the Beatles. The genre is rock, kinda psych rock, and it makes me feel like Ringo Starr on a good sunny day. I do listen to other genres, sometimes I listen to nu metal, and nu metal makes me feel energetic.” Rock is also a popular genre among Titans. It’s a great way to release stress and just vibe your way through the day.
Overall, everyone who listens to music is part of a community where people can connect, have a good time, and discover what they have in common. Music brings us together and makes this campus a friendlier and more peaceful place for people. Music is a universal language of love, and, no matter the genre, everyone can find a niche made specifically for them. Regardless of our differences, music will continue to grow and bring people together.
