Christmas time is one of the best times of the year, and with the holidays fast approaching, there are so many traditions and new plans to look forward to. For example, I watch “The Peanuts Movie” every year, so it’s become a tradition for me too. Others may bake cookies or participate in gingerbread house contests. There are countless ways to celebrate, but none are better than another. Let’s take a look at some of our Titans’ holiday traditions.
When I asked Ms. Joy about her family’s holiday traditions, she shared that they play family bingo games, hold painting contests, and even enjoy playing “The Price is Right” during the holidays. “I just like to see my loved ones have fun and be loud and just be themselves with high energy”, she added, showing her love for her family’s traditions.
Though it’s not a tradition per se, Mr. Morgan, one of our door staff, says he’s hoping to go to North Carolina to see family, but if not possible he’d enjoy time at home and probably go to a bowl game. “My favorite team will be playing, so if I do stay it’d be great to see that; a trip to North Carolina is preferred though.” Mr. Morgan shows that being with family during the holidays is always the way to go, as opposed to a personal plan.
To continue with tradition though, student Colin, said his tradition is to have a Christmas brunch. “The host always changes and this year my family is hosting,” he added. When I asked Colin what his favorite thing about his tradition was, he said that his favorite part about it is the food, but of course, also family.
Jacob Celis, a man of both worlds on this topic, has plans on top of his family traditions. “I plan to hang out with friends and family and I also have a family tradition of going out and looking at the Christmas lights around town,” he said. I asked what his favorite part was and he said, “My favorite part about it is the weather and the lights,” showing real Christmas spirit for the season.
So, as you can see, our Titans spend their holidays in a variety of ways. But the main takeaway is that the holidays are best spent with family and friends; enjoying traditions and new spontaneous plans together while sharing laughs and joy. Do you have any plans or traditions for this year?
