Clash of the Titans is a new tradition that has started at Olympia High School. It gives students the opportunity to earn a sweet treat for following school expectations. The hope is that this incentive will lead to students demonstrating good behavior in school, following rules better and overall keeping them more focused and ready to learn throughout the day.
Olympia has come to realize that rewarding students can be motivational, when students get rewarded for good behaviors it pushes them to continue to do better and follow school expectations. This seems to be the case for these students, as they recall their own plans for success with this new program.
“I’m going to come to school on time and make it to all my classes on time. I will turn in all my assignments on time and be consistent throughout the whole year to maintain everything.” Sophomore Keyshaun Marucellus expressed.
“Wake up early, be on time, make sure I get to school early and be to all my classes on time strive to get no tarties. I will turn in my work on time. I will ask questions when I’m in need of help so I can stay on point and keep all of my grades up.” Junior Grace Pitters explained.
“I will prioritize my time, get to my classes on time, try not to miss lots of days of school, walk faster to classes, and not hang out in areas I’m not supposed to be during transition time. I will stay on top of my work no matter what and not focus on anything that doesn’t benefit me or deserve my time or attention for the sake of my grades and attendance and I will follow the students’ expectations.” Junior Sean Ramnauth expressed.
“To keep up with good attendance, establish a set routine for the school week, stay organized, stay on top of all my work and deadlines and surround myself around positive students.” Freshman Lai’yaunie Hendricks explained.
Let’s hope all of our titans will continue to push themselves this school year. Olympia is already seeing improvement and growth from students because of Clash of the Titans and we are eager to see what’s to come.
