Everyone knows that in high school there is a consistent change of music trends. Many songs go viral and are frequently listened to and played. However not everyone listens to the same genre of music, sometimes not even the same language. Here at Olympia we have a very diverse atmosphere, which means there is a broad range of music among our students.
“My favorite song right now is MDMA by Ken Carson. It makes me go crazy because the background of the song relates to me so much,” expressed junior Xavyer Jenkins.
“My favorite song right now is Entombed by Deftones, I like the lyrics in the song,” shared senior Joseph Abbott.
“Honestly, I love listening to bible scriptures. It makes me feel full, it’s a part of my daily regimen. I start my day by praising god everyday,” stated coach Patrecia Daniley-Porter.
“My favorite song right now is Lonely by Rod Wave. It’s a very catchy song and you could never go wrong with Rod Wave,” mentioned sophomore Kamarion Smith.
“My favorite song is Wildflower by Billie Eilish. Even though this song is meant to be sad, it actually makes me feel a little happy,” claimed junior Amani White.
My favorite song is Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust because I have been listening to it since I was a kid and it connects me to my childhood,” expressed junior Kevin Adams.
Getting to embrace our students’ diversity is amazing. We get to have a glimpse into the lives of our Titans. One would even say that music is a way that students express or relate to one another. So, seeing that some of our students may enjoy the same song and to see the meaning behind what a certain song means to them, we get to understand them just a little bit better.
