A new year means Olympia High School welcomes new staff members and teachers onto campus. The Oracle interviewed new AP Computer Science A teacher Erika Diluvio and new Guidance Counselor Pamela Thompson. Here at The Oracle, we asked for their thoughts about working on a new campus for the new school year.
Erika Diluvio’s past career was in the field of finance, but she is very excited to transition to education. “This is my first year of teaching in a high school setting. I enjoy working in high school and with students. I prefer to work with my present career more than my past career. My goals this year are doing my best in class, being available, and being an extra support during class,” AP Computer Science A Teacher Erika Diluvio said.
Along with Erika Diluvio, there is a new guidance counselor that also recently joined the campus. Pamela Thompson was an educator for the past 28 years, previously as an English teacher and School Counselor for the last 10 years of her life.
“My goals at Olympia are to learn more about different cultures and get my students across the finish line. I would love to contribute to helping students by getting to know them and helping them figure out what their plans are for life after Olympia,” Guidance Counselor Pamela Thompson stated.
Both Erika Diluvio and Pamela Thompson are here to help students do their best in school and beyond. Despite both working different roles on campus, Erika Diluvio and Pamela Thompson want to create a nicer community amongst the students here at Olympia. They both want to help students reach their highest level of achievement. It is exciting to have new teachers and staff members on campus. Welcome Mrs. Diluvio and Mrs. Thompson!
